Continuing on our series on love for Valentines Day, I wanted to write a post entitled The Encouraging Wife as we refer to the relationship between husband and wife. Sometime last week, I caught part of a conversation that was being aired on Moody's Midday Connection program with Anita Lustrea. I heard the guest challenging wives to say one positive thing about their husbands for a number of days and watch God change their marriages for the better. This was something the guest had done in her own marriage that was falling apart and she saw God miraculously changed it and caused her to fall in love with her husband once again. I thought this was a very positive and inspiring thing to do. I was also reminded in scripture where it says the words we speak are powerful to either make or break people or situations. God says in the book of Proverbs 18:21 (New American Standard Bible)
21Death and life are in the power of the tongue...
Another relevant verse is: Proverbs 12:18 (New American Standard Bible)
18There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword,
But the tongue of the wise brings healing.
This challenge produced testimonies that confirmed God's word. Some of these women had marriages that were in trouble but their marriages got back on track because they took this challenge to heart.
